How IELTS pricing works
IELTS in Pakistan is delivered by authorised test partners, and the fee is set by them rather than by the university you are applying to. Prices are revised periodically and can differ slightly between the paper-based, computer-delivered and UKVI versions of the test, so the figure a cousin paid two years ago is not a reliable guide.
Check the current fee directly on the official test provider's Pakistan booking page before you plan your budget, and be careful with third-party agents advertising discounted bookings.
IELTS Academic, General Training and IELTS for UKVI
These are different products and they are not interchangeable. Academic is the version universities normally require. General Training is used mainly for migration and some work routes. IELTS for UKVI is a version delivered at approved centres under additional UK government requirements, and certain UK routes specifically require it.
Booking the wrong version is an expensive mistake, because you pay the full fee again to retake the correct one. Confirm exactly which version your university and visa route need before booking anything.

Where Gujranwala students take the test

Pricing is broadly comparable to IELTS rather than dramatically cheaper, so the real decision should be about which format matches your strengths and which test your target universities and visa route accept.
Some students genuinely score better on PTE; others do better with a human speaking examiner. We usually suggest a scored practice test in both before spending money on the real thing.
The cheapest strategy is passing the first time
Almost every avoidable cost we see comes from a student booking the test before they are ready, missing their target band by half a point, and paying the full fee again. Give preparation an honest assessment of how many weeks it needs, sit a timed mock, and only book when your practice scores are consistently above your target.
